Message Dispatch F.A.Q.
What is Alpha Dispatch/ SMS (Short Message Service)/ Test Messaging.
Message Dispatch Service is best described as enhanced numeric paging. It consists of processing incoming calls on toll free lines, transcribing the messages, and relaying the message with computer controlled banks of modems to end users' alpha numeric pagers or text enabled cell phone in the form of words and numbers. Messages are sequentially numbered and archived for later reference if required.
Who uses it?
Radio paging companies, cell phone companies and their resellers' nationwide use our advanced call processing center to handle incoming calls for their customers without having to set up costly facilities of their own.
What carriers will it work with?
Our message dispatch service is not limited to any carrier. It is available to all alpha-numeric paging service and cell phone providers and resellers in the U.S. and Canada.
How is alpha numeric paging different from standard paging?
Standard paging sends only a phone number with no message or sequence number. The customer must stop what they are doing and call the number in order to find out what the message is about. They have no way of knowing if they missed a page while the pager was off or they were in a radio "dead spot". Our text message dispatch service sends a full text message consisting of text, digits and a sequence number directly to an individual's pager or text enabled cell phone. The message can be read and stored... or deleted... as desired. It provides the information needed to prioritize a call and eliminates the need for a callback about 80% of the time. The sequence number Indicates whether any messages have been missed.
What is the cost difference between alpha numeric paging and standard paging?
This varies with airtime used and local market conditions, but ranges in most cases from about 13 to 40 cents per day. This amount is saved with the first one or two phone calls that don't need to be returned, because you have the "who, what, where, when, and why" in text on your alpha pager or digital cell phone.
Who can benefit from using a alpha numeric pager?
Anyone can benefit, but the advantages go up with the number and importance of the messages received. Some of the people who have been found to gain the most from this technology include: Stock brokers, sales representatives, executives, doctors, field service and repair / delivery personnel, law enforcement agents, and fire / medical / rescue personnel. NO ANNOYING CELL PHONE INTERRUPTIONS!
How does the billing system work?
No service deposit is required, but we do insist that invoices be paid in a timely manner. The billing cutoff is on or about the 23rd of the month for that month's charges, and for service for the following month. Invoices are due on the 10th of the month following. A "Late Payment" charge will be added to invoices which remain open after the 15th of the month, and an account will be immediately suspended if any invoice is not paid on or before the 20th of the month. Suspended accounts will be reactivated only when full payment of all open invoices. A deposit equal to one month's service may also be required. Disputes, collection actions, and appearances are governed by the prevailing law.
